ABOUT SOPHIE
I grew up on an arable farm, which has had a huge inspiration for much of my artwork today. With a keen interest in my farming background, I gained a degree in Rural Enterprise & Land Management from Harper Adams University in 2013.
It was my intention to pursue a career in land management, however in November 2013 I was given the opportunity to undertake an 11 month internship with figurative painter James Gillick.
It was within this 11 month period that I realised I could make a lucrative career from the hobby I had loved from an early age and from there plucked up the courage to start up my own business.
Since then I have gone from designing greetings cards in my parents kitchen, to building up a successful homeware collection, consisting of fine bone china mugs, placemats, coasters and lots more, as well as undertaking many pet commissions and oil paintings.
A big move to the highlands of Scotland at the beginning of 2023 prompted me to re-evaluate my business structure. I made the tough decision to stop the homeware side of my business in order to concentrate on other aspects. These include designing bespoke wedding stationery for lots of amazing couples, along with building up my oil painting portfolio, painting lots more pet portraits and continuing the sale of my very popular children's placemats.
February 2024 saw another big move for me and my partner, as we took the plunge to head further south to be closer to family. Cumbria is now where you will find me, busy in my home studio, as well as exploring the Lake District & Yorkshire Dales which I'm so lucky to have so close by.
